The trajectory of my career so far has been a strange one, but I think you’ll see how it is an asset, making me uniquely qualified.
I have been working since I can remember. I made business cards with my sister and we got to work, doing everything from weeding to house-sitting and dog walking around our neighborhood. I started babysitting soon after, and then had internships every summer during high school and college. I worked for PR and Communications firms, Ogilvy & Mather, an outdoor education program, and a New Mexico Chamber of Commerce. I was Membership Vice President of my college sorority and we had a record-breaking recruitment that year!
I received my education at Kinkaid High School in Houston, TX and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. I graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts in English, along with a minor in French. I started working for IBM the summer between my junior and senior year as a Product Specialist in Chicago, and after graduation, came on full-time as a Business Analytics Specialist in Massachusetts. I moved back to Dallas and transitioned into being a Knowledge Manager.
In a strange turn of events, God called me to ministry and I was fortunate enough to join D-Group. I had the pleasure of serving as the Executive Director for D-Group from 2017 to 2022. In 2019, we launched a daily podcast called The Bible Recap. In 2020, I helped to write the daily accompanying prayer podcast called The Bible KneeCap.
CJ Adventures LLC launched in 2017 and has enabled me to explore many fun projects. In 2021, I launched a 6-month mentoring program for women called Through the Lens of the Holy Spirit.
In 2022, I joined a shipping company for a short stint as a Content Marketing Manager, founded a DEIAB cohort and a mental Health and Wellness cohort. Kobe Campbell then brought me on as Director of Operations for the Healing Circle until her debut book launched in Spring 2023. Serving as the Brand Marketing Manager for a year at Seed Company, I have turned to education as my passion and career focus. I returned to SMU and graduated in May 2024 with my Master’s in Human Rights and Social Justice, and my currently pursuing my PhD.
It’s been a pleasure to serve my community by partnering closely with the Texas Center for Justice and Equity and Equest. I also co-founded and help lead an anti-racism book club that has been foundational to my personal growth and education. I have recently been proud to serve the Human Rights Campaign, and I’ve become a member of the National Organization for Women.
